Joel Embiid and the 76ers Agree to a Three-Year, $193 Million Deal Extension

All-Star center Joel Embiid, who has already won an NBA MVP award and an Olympic gold medal, still has till the end of the decade to attempt and win an NBA title with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Embiid hopes to win that championship in Philadelphia and play for the Sixers for the remainder of his career now that he has signed another maximum contract.

“Home is Philadelphia,” Embiid posted on Instagram.

According to a person familiar with the negotiations, Embiid, a seven-time NBA All-Star, and the 76ers reached a deal on a $193 million extension with a player option for the 2028–2029 campaign. Since the terms have not yet been disclosed, the source talked to The Associated Press under the condition of anonymity.

After completing his high school education in Florida and spending a season as a collegiate player at Kansas, 30-year-old Embiid made headlines of his own early on Friday morning when he shared an Instagram picture of himself and team owner Josh Harris signing a contract.

“I want to finish my career here. “I cherish this community and all that you have provided for my family and me,” Embiid wrote ***. There’s still a ton of work to be done. I believe we’re just getting started, and you people deserve a championship.
