Iran’s Foreign Minister Issues A Warning About The Civil Conflict And Collapse Of Syria
According to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, there are worries about the “possibility of civil war, the disintegration of Syria, a total collapse and turning Syria into a shelter for terrorists.” On Sunday, Araghchi appeared on Iranian official television. “In order to avoid any issues, we are keeping an eye on the developments. These issues include the potential for another civil war or conflict between different tribes, and, heaven forbid, the complete collapse of Syria and its transformation into a hub and haven for terrorists. Naturally, Iran is particularly concerned about the Zionist regime taking advantage of this circumstance,” Araghchi stated.
Hours after a spectacular rebel onslaught took over Damascus and ended his family’s 50-year rule, Araghchi made those remarks as Russian media claimed on Sunday that overthrown Syrian leader Bashar Assad had fled to Moscow and been granted asylum by his old friend.
In order to topple the 50-year dictatorship of the Assad family, the insurgents swept across Syria in just 10 days. They broke into security installations and prisons to liberate political prisoners and many of the tens of thousands of individuals who had vanished since the crisis started in 2011.
