Gaza Struggle Every Day to Survive in the Bitterly Cold Climate

Palestinians in Gaza face a daily struggle for survival due to the devastating effects of Israel’s bombardment of the territory throughout the severe winter months. The majority are still living in improvised shelters, have little to no income, and struggle to procure food and water over four months into a precarious truce mediated by the United States.

In the Muwasi tent camp in southern Gaza, a group of residents came on Friday to fill their jerrycans and plastic bottles with drinking water. To get clean drinking water, they frequently have to trek great distances each day. Once they have it, they must ration every drop until the water trucks come again the next day.

Getting 100 litres of water takes three to four hours. Mohamed Abu Rabie, a Rafah refugee, said, “The water suffering is very difficult. He expressed his desire that someone will offer water trucks close to their tents while kids and adults wait patiently in queue to fill their bottles and jerrycans.
