Eritrean Biniam Girmay is Hoping for a Successful Tour de France Outcome in 2024
Biniam Girmay, an Eritrean cyclist, hopes to do well in the Tour de France in 2024. June 29 is the start date of the tour, and it ends on July 21.
The race begins in Italy for the first time.
The Intermarche-Wanty squad’s eight-man lineup this year will include two sprinters. Gerben Thijssen, a Belgian, will be joining Girmay.
“I believe that this year is unique since, as you mentioned, we have two sprinters on a single squad. Because we can share the sprint and support one another during the sprint stage—especially for Gerben if it’s particularly flat—that implies that there is less strain on both of us, including me, according to 24-year-old Thijssen.
As a last man, I can also back him. That implies that it’s a favorable chance for us both. Since this is my second year, in particular, I have learned a lot from my first year. I’m genuinely hoping for a positive outcome.
The first rider from Africa to win a World Tour classic was present at his team’s pre-Tour media briefing in Florence on Friday.
Fellow Eritreans are motivated by the podium finisher who placed 125th out of 150 cyclists in the previous year.
