During the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Russia and Morocco Promise to Strengthen Their Cooperation

Lavrov and Bourita also talked about the Gaza War. They conveyed their contentment with the continuous execution of the initial stage of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Lavrov has commended Morocco for its involvement “in promoting efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue.
We acknowledge the role that His Majesty King Mohammed VI has played as the head of the Jerusalem Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,” Lavrov stated. According to Bourita, both nations have a similar perspective on the present events in the Middle East.
We hope that all parties follow the terms of the agreement and that it opens up a political avenue for a fair and long-term resolution to the Palestinian problem. Lavrov and Bourita also discussed the Western Sahara problem. Lavrov stated at a press conference on Monday that Russia would be satisfied with “any solution acceptable to all parties,” which would include Morocco’s autonomy plan.
According to a statement from the Russian foreign ministry, the two ambassadors signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a joint committee “to deepen the strategic partnership” between Morocco and Russia.
