China and Qatar, According to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, are Trying to Politically “Besiege” Israel
Israel was under “siege” by China and Qatar, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday. He charged them with trying to weaken the backing of Israel’s supporters, particularly those in the US and Europe.
In Jerusalem, the Israeli leader addressed a bipartisan group of 250 US lawmakers. “We appreciate and treasure your support, Republicans and Democrats alike. Additionally, there is a concerted effort to undermine it,” he stated. Netanyahu likened this political “blockade” to Iran’s alleged plan to use its proxies to impose a “military siege” on Israel.
The Israeli prime minister charged that Qatar and China were planning a social media assault against Israel’s legitimacy in the US and the West. We’ll need to fight it, and we’ll fight it on our own,” he declared.
According to Netanyahu, “large Islamist minorities in western Europe,” who he said supported Hamas and Iran, are responsible for applying pressure on governments in that area through “violent protests and constant intimidation.”
In an attempt to provide a coordinated response to Israel’s raid on Hamas leaders in Doha last week, Netanyahu spoke while Qatar was hosting leaders from Arab and Islamic countries. At the summit, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the emir of Qatar, charged that Israel was seeking to “ensure Gaza is no longer livable.
