As Ties Worsen, the EU recalls its Ambassador from Niger
The statement from Niger’s transitional authorities, which questioned the procedures and administration of the EU Delegation’s humanitarian assistance to the country’s victims of catastrophic flooding, was noted by the European Union.

The EU was slammed by Niger’s transitional administration on Friday for distributing €1.3 million in humanitarian aid without first consulting the country’s people. According to a government statement, the EU ambassador allegedly disbursed these monies to non-governmental organizations “unilaterally,” disregarding transparency guidelines and avoiding cooperation with Nigerien authorities. The management of the fund was to be audited.
The EU has often underlined its commitment to aiding the populace in light of the Niger issue. Humanitarian help is essential; it must be delivered in an impartial, independent, and neutral manner and carried out by NGOs, international organizations, and UN agencies.
