Another Celebrity from Nigeria, Chief Priest Cubana, is Accused of Tossing Money into the Air.
Real name Pascal Okechukwu, the Nigerian socialite and businessman Cubana Chief Priest is accused of misusing banknotes after he allegedly engaged in the “spraying” habit of tossing cash into the air during social gatherings.
He appeared in court on Wednesday and entered a not-guilty plea to three counts. Since this action causes notes to be trampled underfoot, it is illegal.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which is in charge of enforcing these laws, has charged Okechukwu with manipulating 500 naira notes during events in Lagos. He was charged before the Federal High Court of Lagos and given bail of 10 million naira, equivalent to $8,600 or £6,970. This comes after comparable cases involving actress Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin and internet celebrity Bobrisky, who were both given six months in prison for similar acts.
According to the EFCC, 24 persons have already been found guilty, and investigations are still underway. Many celebrities are also involved.
