Amidst Economic Hardships, Nigerians are Incensed by the $100 Million Presidential Jet

Nigerians are furious over President Bola Tinubu’s recent acquisition of a brand-new, $100 million aircraft.

Since the nation is currently experiencing its greatest economic crisis in decades, many view this as an obvious example of a government disconnected from the day-to-day problems of its citizens.

It was difficult for the average Nigerian to accept the sight of the brand-new Airbus A330 parked on the Nice, France, tarmac, given the country’s rising costs and pervasive poverty.

As he lavishes money on a jet, they want us to tighten our belts,” a disgruntled individual commented on social media. “This purchase demonstrates just how disconnected the president is from the suffering of Nigerians,” said an additional person.

Oby Ezekwesili, the former minister of education, denounced the jet, calling it a representation of the administration’s “fiscal recklessness and dishonesty.”

A presidential spokesman, however, defended the choice, asserting that the aircraft was purchased at a low cost based on the Senate security committee’s recommendation.

Many Nigerians are more frustrated and disillusioned as a result of the costly purchase, especially given the country’s high inflation rate and 40% poverty rate.
