As US Vice President JD Vance’s trip to Israel draws to an end, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that he would also visit Israel to continue the momentum behind the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas that the US mediated.

At the conclusion of his trip to Israel this week, he spoke on the tarmac of the international airport in Tel Aviv before leaving. Israel’s parliament on Wednesday gave preliminary approval to a bill that would apply Israeli law to the occupied West Bank.

Vance remarked, “I personally take some insult to it,” in reference to the Knesset decision. “The Trump administration’s policy is that Israel will not annex the West Bank.” During his tour, Vance had meetings with Israeli officials, including military chiefs.

He declared earlier this week that a civilian military coordination center had opened in southern Israel, where 200 US personnel are collaborating with Israeli military forces and foreign delegations to plan for Gaza’s stabilization and reconstruction.
