According To Africa’s Health Organization, Mpox Vaccinations Might Begin In A Few Days

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and other nations on the continent might begin mpox vaccination campaigns in a few days, according to Africa’s leading public health organization.

A more dangerous variant of the virus that surfaced in the DRC last year and has now spread to about 12 additional African states, with verified cases in at least 3 non-African countries, has its epicentre in the region.

The new strain’s spread was deemed a global public health emergency by the World Health Organization last week.

Immunization shots are expected to arrive soon, according to the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

This comes after promises made by the US, Japan, the European Union, and vaccine manufacturer Bavarian Nordic.

In order to facilitate the roll out, the center claims that it has been working on logistics and communication methods with nations that are facing mpox epidemics.

According to its Director General, Jean Kaseya, it’s critical to ensure that all the necessary arrangements are in place to guarantee that the vaccines will be delivered and stored safely.
