A Number of African Leaders Visit the French capital for the Biennial Paris Peace Forum

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed several African leaders and global delegates to the presidential palace in Paris on Wednesday for the opening of the 8th annual Paris Peace Forum. The two-day event brings together over 300 leaders from governments, international organizations, businesses, civil society, and academia to discuss pressing global issues.
Among the African representatives attending are Togo’s President Faure Gnassingbé, Ghana’s John Dramani Mahama, Liberia’s Joseph Boakai, and Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This year’s forum, held under the theme “New Coalitions for Peace, People and the Planet,” focuses on addressing conflicts and challenges around the world.
Discussions will center on conflict prevention, peacebuilding, protecting democracy and the integrity of information, and the role of investing in children as a catalyst for development. Participants will also explore how artificial intelligence can support peace and inclusive growth, as well as ways to scale transformative climate solutions.
The forum coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Paris Climate Agreement, aiming to renew global commitment to climate action ahead of the upcoming COP30 summit in Belém.
