A Kenyan Court has Sentenced two People to Prison for Their Involvement in the 2019 Hotel Attack

Two men were sentenced to 30 years in jail by a Kenyan court on Thursday for their assistance to al-Shabaab terrorists in the 2019 attack on a posh hotel complex in Nairobi. Gunmen stormed into the Dusit hotel and office complex in January of that year, murdering 21 people during a 19-hour siege. The strike claimed the lives of all five extremists.

Kenyans Mohamed Abdi Ali and Hussein Mohamed Abdille Ali were found guilty last month of conspiring and facilitating a terrorist crime.

By assisting two of the assailants in escaping from a refugee camp using fictitious identity documents, the court claimed they had played a crucial part. They had also given the organisation financial support.

After denying the accusations, Both individuals have 14 days to appeal their convictions. In Kenya, the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Shabaab frequently conducts assaults. Its objective is to exert pressure on the government to remove its peacekeeping forces from Somalia, where it is fighting an insurgency in an attempt to take control.
