China Promises to Work more Closely with Mozambique

During their talks in Beijing on Tuesday, Mozambican President Daniel Francisco Chapo and Chinese President Xi Jinping decided to strengthen bilateral relations in order to create a community between China and Mozambique with a shared future in the new era.

During the discussions, Xi stated that since establishing diplomatic ties, China and Mozambique have upheld mutual trust and consistently supported one another, serving as a model of South-South cooperation and friendship between China and Africa.

According to the Chinese president, the ongoing development of friendly cooperation between China and Mozambique is in line with the current trend of the Global South strengthening solidarity and cooperation to jointly address challenges and fulfills the shared aspirations of the peoples of both countries.

Xi stated that China is prepared to collaborate with Mozambique in order to take advantage of the 2026 China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges and the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) as opportunities to further the shared goal of modernization.

Xi urged the two sides to maintain their unwavering support for one another on matters pertaining to each other’s fundamental concerns and interests, to increase communication in a variety of domains and at different levels, including between the governments, political parties.
