Putin Warns That if Peace Negotiations Fail, Russia Would Expand its Advantages in Ukraine
Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, has warned that if Kyiv and its Western allies reject the Kremlin’s objectives in peace negotiations, Moscow will try to expand its achievements in Ukraine.
He stated that Moscow would prefer to accomplish its objectives and “eliminate the root causes of the conflict” through diplomatic methods while speaking at an annual gathering of senior military leaders on Wednesday.
However, he declared that “Russia will achieve the liberation of its historical lands by military means if the opposing side and its foreign patrons refuse to engage in substantive dialogue.” In an effort to put an end to the nearly four years of conflict that started with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, US President Donald Trump is making a strong push for a peace agreement.
