The Foreign Ministers of Egypt and Germany Want the Gaza Ceasefire to be Fully Implemented
Germany’s foreign minister, Johann Wadephul, said on Tuesday that the top priority in the Gaza situation is to fully carry out the first phase of the ceasefire. This includes returning the bodies of all hostages and improving the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Speaking in Berlin with Egypt’s foreign minister, Badr Abdelatty, he thanked Egypt for its strong and ongoing mediation efforts in the region.
Wadephul also made it clear that disarming Hamas is essential for any stable future in Gaza, and that the group’s control must come to an end a view widely shared by the international community.
He urged Israel to follow the ceasefire terms strictly and allow more humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, a message he said he has already passed on to Israeli officials. Minister Abdelatty highlighted the close cooperation between Egypt and Germany, and underlined Egypt’s key strategic role in the Middle East and its position as a gateway to Africa.
