Interpol Global Policing Forum Says Security needs a New Compass

Senior law enforcement officials and ministers from around the world gathered in Marrakech, Morocco, this week to address mounting threats from organised crime. The meeting, part of Interpol’s 93rd General Assembly, brought together around 800 delegates representing 179 countries.

The discussions came at a time when, according to participants, criminal threats are advancing faster than the international community’s ability to counter them. Delegates called for a “new compass” to guide global security efforts.

Mohamed Dakhmissi, president of Interpol’s Operational Affairs Committee, said the assembly covered a wide range of strategic and security matters. We emphasised the importance of information exchange, the arrest of involved individuals, and the development of stronger security institutions,” he noted.

Officials warned that crime has evolved from a local problem into a sophisticated global industry, underscoring the urgent need for updated strategies, cooperation, and resources to meet this growing challenge.
