The Slave Descendants are Granted Citizenship by BeninGovernment Reacts to MoDeL leader Aliou Bah’s Sentencing

Aliou Bah, the leader of the MoDeL party (Mouvement Démocratique Libéral), was sentenced to two years in prison for allegedly “offending” President Mamadi Doumbouya. The Guinean government has responded to this decision through a spokeswoman.

The ‘forces vives’ have declared that they do not acknowledge the junta after the two-year transition period ended on December 31,” said MPDG Party President Siaka BARRY. Although we respect their position, the junta still has authority and control. The ‘forces vives,’ which organize demonstrations and mobilize the populace to call for the junta’s overthrow in this way, employ different methods and strategies than we do.

A spokesperson for the Guinean executive maintains that a distinction must be made between criticism and defamation, which he says is “subject to legal consequences,” despite some political figures denouncing the “manipulation of the justice system” and calling it a “political trial” meant to silence dissenting voices.

Siaka BARRY went on to say, “At the moment, nothing has changed. ECOWAS does not respond. It is dormant and silent. We are not aware of its existence. For this reason, we implore the international community to step in and communicate with all pertinent stakeholders in order to work together and inclusively to reshape the transition’s future.
