Tragic Knife Assault at Kampala Daycare in Uganda Claims four Lives
Police in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, said Thursday that a man brutally attacked a kindergarten, killing four children. A statement was released on Thursday afternoon by the Uganda Police Force identifying the suspect as Okello Christopher Onyum, a 39-year-old man.
As stated in the Daily Monitor newspaper, the individual in question was able to visit the daycare center by impersonating a parent. According to the allegation, he stormed into the school offices, had a brief conversation with the head administrator, and then proceeded to shut the gate and start hitting the students. The victims’ ages were listed as two to three by the police.
Security personnel intervened and detained the culprit after enraged neighbors tried to lynch him as he tried to flee, according to Kawala. To disperse the crowd, police allegedly fired into the air.
Images shared online showed worried parents gathered outside the now-enclosed nursery school, wanting to know where their children were and what had happened to them. While investigations continue, the apparent motivation for the murders has not been revealed.
