On the Front Lines of Russia’s Conflict in Ukraine, More Africans Lose Their lives Defending Their Country
More African nations are reporting the deaths of their nationals who were duped into serving Russia in the conflict in Ukraine. Zimbabwe is the most recent country to declare that its citizens have lost their lives on the front lines amid recruitment drives throughout the continent.
It reported on Wednesday that 15 people had been slain after being enticed to Russia by posts on social media by dubious organizations offering rich jobs.Information Minister Soda Zhemu stated, “This is not a matter of legitimate military service.”Zimbabweans have already lost their lives as a result of this complex plan of deceit, exploitation, and human trafficking.”
Furthermore, Zhemu stated that around sixty Zimbabweans remained stranded on the front lines. In order to guarantee the repatriation of the deceased’s corpses and the safe return of the living, he continued, the administration was in negotiations with the Russian authorities.
For the first time, Harare has admitted that dozens of its citizens are serving in the Russian military. Last month, Ukraine reported that it had identified over 1,780 residents of 36 African nations who were serving in the Russian military.
