At The Doha forum, the Somali President Denounces Israel’s Recognition of Somaliland
In Doha on Saturday, the president of Somalia denounced Israel’s recognition of the self-declared breakaway state Somaliland and called the situation in Gaza “another level of inhumane engagement” in world history.Despite all other global difficulties, this must continue to be a top priority,” President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud stated during the annual Al Jazeera Forum in Qatar.
The 17th edition of the forum is scheduled for February 7–9. Additionally, he denounced Israel’s acknowledgement of Somaliland, a breakaway portion of Somalia, as an autonomous state. He claimed that the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea, and the rest of the world are all impacted by this careless, essentially immoral, and unlawful behaviour under international law, which jeopardises trade, stability, and security.
During a decline into violence that has left the east African nation vulnerable, Somaliland declared its independence from Somalia in 1991. Up until last December, Somaliland had never received international recognition, even though it had its own government and currency. Several nations strongly condemned Israel for becoming the first to recognise Somaliland. Mohamud added that his nation was engaged in combat with both ISIS and al-Qaida.We are making sacrifices for more than just Somalia in our endeavour.
