Ousmane Dembélé And Chloé Kelly Are Two of the Leading Candidates for the 2025 Ballon d’Or

The end of the wait is near. The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place at Paris’s Théâtre du Châtelet on Monday night. The awards ceremony honors the best in international football every year. Africanews examines the top candidates for this 69th edition. Some favorites stand out among the 30 men’s and 30 women’s nominations that France Football magazine announced last month. The men’s team’s 30 nominees do not include Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, who between them have won thirteen Ballon d’Or honors, for the second consecutive year.

Ousmane Dembélé, a forward with Paris Saint-Germain, is the front-runner to win the award. In just his second season at PSG, Dembélé played a key role in helping the team win its first Champions League championship.

The 28-year-old forward is one of nine PSG players competing for the men’s prize, along with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who was nominated as a PSG player but has since joined Manchester City, and midfielder Désiré Doué.”PSG’s overall performance and the magnificent paradox of an irresistible team that has brought out unexpected individual talent have marked the 2024–2025 season that the world is celebrating tonight,” the French sports publication L’Équipe stated.
