At The South African Air Force Base, A Leopard Assaults Men

At a South African air force installation close to Kruger National Park, a leopard assaulted two men.

One man was attacked while jogging; he was an air force member in uniform. According to an air force spokesman, the other person was a civilian employee of the facility who came upon the leopard while out for a stroll.

Brigadier General Donavan Chetty told the BBC that both men were admitted to the hospital with minor scratches but no other injuries. On Thursday, the other is anticipated to depart, while the first has been released.

After last week’s episodes, the leopard was apprehended on Wednesday and taken to a sanctuary approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the Hoedspruit air force base.

While people living close to the park frequently encounter leopards, General Chetty pointed out that these interactions are typically not harmful. He clarified that although though the park is primarily gated, leopards’ agility allows them to quickly go over fences.

The website of the Kruger National Park states that leopards are nocturnal predators that pursue a variety of prey, such as fish, antelope, and wildebeest. There are reportedly 150 leopards living in the region.
