Hamas is Cautioned by Lebanon Not to Launch Any Strikes From its Territory

Lebanese officials forewarned the Palestinian Hamas organisation on Friday not to launch any assaults from Lebanon or face the “harshest measures. Lebanon’s highest military organisation issued the warning, the Higher Defence Council, weeks after several Palestinian and Lebanese individuals were arrested on suspicion of launching rockets into northern Israel from Lebanon.

Following a 14-month Israel-Hezbollah conflict that concluded in late November with a ceasefire mediated by the United States, Lebanese authorities are expanding their power across the nation, mostly in the south close to the Israeli border.

The council declared that Hamas and other groups would not be permitted to jeopardise the stability of the country. “The most important thing is the safety of Lebanon’s territories.” Hamas representatives did not immediately answer associated Press enquiries for comment on the Lebanese verdict.

The Palestinian organisation with an armed presence in Lebanon has attacked Israel many times since the Israel-Hamas conflict started in October 2023. Since then, Israel has conducted out airstrikes in Beirut that have killed Hamas officials, including Saleh Arouri, one of the organization’s senior military leaders.
