Conflicts in the DR Congo Claimed the Lives of three South African Soldiers

The South African National Defence Union (SANDU) announced in a statement on Saturday that fighting in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Thursday resulted in the deaths of three South African soldiers and the injuries of at least fourteen others.
According to two Congolese army sources, Congolese forces successfully thwarted a rebel attack attempt in the country’s eastern area throughout the night. According to an army official who spoke on condition of anonymity, the military reacted when the rebels used heavy weaponry to target the fortifications.
We halted their progress. The officer went on, “We are preventing them from coming to Goma.” The Congolese military and government have refrained from making any public remarks regarding the issue.
The UN has issued a warning about the possibility of a wider regional conflict as a result of the recent escalation. Rwanda, a neighbour, has been accused by the Congo, the UN, and other nations of inflaming the conflict by supplying its own troops and weapons. Rwanda has refuted these claims.
